The front is a cape - it widens the figure. I ordered XL. The table says hips 127, I need 120, but it's tight in the hips.. I had to remove the cape and insert it into the back of the dress. The cape looks great even without the cape. With the addition of accessories instead of buttons - a great light, elegant dress.
