Shortly after the Mad King was overthrown during Robert's Rebellion, two orphaned Targaryens were forced to flee to Essos. Now Robert is dead, and the lords and ladies of Westeros are vying for power. It's time for the Targaryens to take back what is theirs, using every means available. And there will be no shortage of them, with Daenerys commanding not only armies but also three powerful dragons. The world of Game of Thrones expands to a new continent. A new map fragment, which connects to the original board, depicts the Free Cities of Essos. The Game of Thrones: Mother of Dragons expansion expands the war to include Braavos, Volantis, and Pentos, the Targaryen starting city.House Targaryen doesn't need more strongholds to win, as they so easily crumble when dragons march into battle. Instead, to claim the Iron Throne, Daenerys must gain support in seven territories—only then will she be able to seize power and win the game.Dragons Enter the GameHow to do this? It's not difficult to win over new lords when you have three dragons behind you. Each one is a completely new type of unit. They are extremely mobile and grow in power as the game progresses. Dragons are very rare creatures; they cannot be mobilized like regular units.Instead, they are in the game from the very beginning. However, their uniqueness is also their greatest weakness. If a dragon is killed for any reason, it is permanently removed from the game. Each dragon is a single land unit that must adhere to the supply rules. Dragons can participate in battles as attackers, defenders, or supporters according to the normal rules. Dragons' strength increases over time – they start at zero, but by the end of the battle for the Iron Throne, they are already powerful beasts with a strength of five.A Game of Thrones: Mother of Dragons introduces not only the rising Targaryens, but also House Arryn. Thanks to the Eyrie map overlay and new character sheets, you'll be able to utilize a new house in your quest for the Iron Throne, increasing the number of players in the game to eight. With Mother of Dragons, you'll not only be able to play with more players, but also improve the balance of smaller-player games thanks to the vassal system, which introduces neutral houses. Each player will have the opportunity to acquire a vassal and use their power in the fight for the throne, but nothing is certain – no vassal is completely loyal when a better offer presents itself…Players occupying the highest positions on the Iron Track can choose one vassal to control until the start of the next Planning Phase, where they will become its lord. Players can assign command tokens to their vassals, but they must be careful how they direct their units and remember that the balance of power may change in the next turn.Box contents:45 plastic units3 plastic dragon units1 large Essos board12 Iron Bank loan cards24 tokens10 new Westeros cards1 deck of Vassal house cards7 Vassal cards15 area improvement tokens
