Visconti Fountain Pen Van Gogh Collection Special Edition Plum Blossoms This "Visconti Van Gogh Collection Special Edition Plum Blossoms" is based on "Plum Blossoms," Van Gogh's copy of Hiroshige's "Kameido Umeyashiki," one of the "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo." Van Gogh's copy of Hiroshige's work is almost exact, with the exact same placement. This is said to be because he first traced the Hiroshige print onto paper and then applied it to the canvas as a rough sketch. "Plum Blossoms" has a border and features what appear to be Chinese characters on both sides, which are not present in the original print. It is believed that Van Gogh, although not aware of their Japanese meaning, added them as a Japonisme motif, inspired by other ukiyo-e prints.
