Rebel Power 12V / 7.5Ah Gel Battery Gel batteries have become an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Unlike the latter, gel models are maintenance-free. This means they don't require electrolyte refilling. Their advantages include a sealed housing and gelled electrolyte. This guarantees leak-free operation, allowing the battery to be stored in any position and providing greater shock resistance. Gel Battery Durability One of the greatest advantages of gel batteries is their lifespan. Of all the batteries available on the market, this type boasts the longest lifespan, as with proper use, it can last up to a dozen years. Importantly, gel batteries are also characterized by greater resistance to changing and extreme weather conditions. Automatic discharge (25°C) Gel batteries can be stored for many months without charging. Their capacity drops to: • 91% after 3 months • 82% after 6 months • 64% after 9 months Selecting a gel battery Appropriate dimensions are not everything. When choosing a battery, pay attention to its capacity – it should be no more than 110% or less than 90% of the recommended capacity for the device you plan to power. Output voltage is also important, and must be very close to the recommended value (+/- 0.2 V). Applications of Gel Batteries Gel batteries are used in applications such as motorcycles, golf carts, and lawn mowers. They are also used in uninterruptible power supplies, photovoltaic systems, alarm systems, and electric toys. Furthermore, these batteries can be found in cars with a large number of electrical devices, such as campers. In such cases, they are used not for starting the car, but for powering electronic equipment. Choose a charger for your gel battery For the charger to function properly and not damage the battery, it must have the appropriate current and voltage. These values will vary at different charging stages, so it's worth choosing an automatic charger that will not only adjust the charging current and voltage, but also turn off when the battery is fully charged.
