Matsubara knives, a traditional craft of Nagasaki Prefecture, were first created in 1474 by the descendants of Naminohira Yukiyasu, a swordsmith of the Taira clan. They established their home in Matsubara, Hizen, where they forged swords at Hachiman Shrine and crafted sickles for farmers. Since then, these masterpieces have a history spanning more than 500 years.
