Country of Origin: Japan Hasami ware is a type of ceramic ware produced in Hasami Town, Higashisonogi District, Nagasaki Prefecture. Like the neighboring Arita ware of Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, it boasts a tradition spanning over 400 years. Each piece is hand-painted, featuring a flowing brushstroke, a technique cultivated over many years. The heron is said to be a divine messenger and an auspicious bird that paves the way.
