2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The length of the shimenawa is from the tie of the tassel at the tip to the end of the shimenawa. (*As it is handmade, the length is a guideline) Comes with 4 pieces of paper. Old rice is used for the core. A shimenawa is a rope strung to mark a sacred place. It is a sacred ritual tool that has the role of distinguishing between inside and outside and separating the altar from impurities. Pieces of paper called shimenawa or shite are inserted into the shimenawa. The lightning-shaped paper tape represents a good harvest, exorcises evil spirits, and indicates a sacred place. In preparation for the new year, there is a tradition of exchanging shimenawa at the end of the year.
