This set of 50 karuta songs includes children's songs, school songs, and lyrical songs. The picture cards feature warm woodblock prints by Ito Takumi. The songs are mainly selected from the "NHK Japanese Songs: 100 Hometown Songs." They are all representative Japanese songs that will bring back fond memories for older people and that we want to pass on to future generations. To play, the reader looks at the reading card and sings, while the others listen and take a card. Each card features the title of the song, the opening lyrics, and an illustration inspired by the lyrics. The instruction manual includes the full lyrics of the first verse of each song.
